Baby wait

“Baby weight”

“Pre-Pregnancy body”

Two phrases that I hear daily as a new mom. I hear them in advertisements. I see them on the mom discussion boards. On magazine covers. On social media.

There is a sense that things, that you, will be somehow better once you’ve lost that “baby weight” and get your “pre-pregnancy body” back. That you’ll be happier. We wait to wear that bikini, those short shorts, wait to buy new clothes. We wait. We’re told to wait. Baby, wait.

Well, I’m not waiting. I’m going to just be happier right now. In my bikini. My short shorts. And my new clothes. While some may wait, I’ll be over here in my post-baby body and my extra baby weight. Doing. Living. Loving. I don’t have time to wait.
