I love nap time. A napping baby is the perfect time to…Get nothing done at all. To finally drink a hot cup of coffee and watch an old movie. To catch up with my girls Audrey, Marilyn, Betty, Katherine. Sweet escape. Sure, a gal could clean up around the house, start prepping dinner, organize the closets, clean the bathrooms. Some say, “sleep when the baby sleeps” or “use nap time to get things done”. But, not me. Sometimes I’ll spend her whole nap drinking a cup of tea. Just drinking it. Not drinking it while tidying up the living room, not drinking it while researching play groups. Just drinking it. Sometimes I sit on the front porch. Sometimes I sit in the backyard.
Today is more of a Mitzi Gaynor kind of day. I’ll sit in the T.V. room under a blanket. I’ll put my phone away. I’ll put my feet up. And for an hour or so, I’ll have no worries. I’ll recharge. A may be a gal with a messy house, take out for dinner, my closets may be a mess and they bathrooms could use a scrub, but I’m okay with that. Sure, there are things I could be doing, things some people would say I should be doing. But, there will always be things to do. But, nap times are for getting nothing done at all.
